ASPHALT SERVICES
Pavement RestorationPavement restoration can be done in various ways for different reasons. The most common reasons include: restoration after underground utilities have been installed, replaced or repaired; aging asphalt has developed cracks, pot holes or other damage; tree roots have damaged paved surfaces or concrete walks; and improper drainage and/or poor base material have caused the paved surface to be undermined causing pot holes or sunken surfaces. The type of restoration typically depends on the cause.
- Asphalt Patching
Asphalt patching greatly extends the life of existing paved surfaces by repairing the damaged areas, such as, cracks, pot holes and aged areas. The damaged area is cut out and completely removed. The pavement base material is inspected and corrected as needed. The area is then patched and smoothed with new asphalt, restoring the damaged area to like new condition.
-
Asphalt Overlays
Asphalt overlays restore aging asphalt surfaces with a new wearing
surface. After patching has been completed, the existing surface is
thoroughly cleaned and a tacking coat of glue is placed on the clean
surface. The entire area is then repaved with an overlay of 1½” to
2” of new asphalt. This new surface will last for several years. - Asphalt Grinding
Asphalt grinding is used to remove damaged asphalt or to prepare an existing surface for an overlay. Asphalt grindings make an excellent base material and can also be recycled into new asphalt. The use of grinding equipment can be beneficial at saving both time and money.
- Seal Coating
Seal coating is primarily used on driveways and parking areas to protect asphalt from the damaging effects of petroleum products. It is also used to fill surface cracks and prevent water from entering and damaging the base material. Seal coating protects and extends the life of asphalt, and is visually appealing as well.
Concrete Restoration
Concrete restoration is often performed for many of the same reasons as asphalt restoration. In many cases, asphalt patching is needed along with concrete, due to the placing of forms for curbs or other areas where concrete and asphalt have common joints. Concrete is removed and restored to sidewalks, streets, curbs, driveways, etc. with various finishes.
- Concrete Finishing
There are several ways to finish concrete. The most common are:
- Light Broom Finish. Typically done on city sidewalks,
residential sidewalks, and driveways.
- Heavy Broom Finish. Typically done on city and county
streets or very steep driveways.
- Washed Aggregate Finish. The surface layer of concrete is washed off to expose the rock or aggregate. This is also used to create a custom design in the finish.
In addition to asphalt and concrete restoration, AA Asphalting, Inc. provides additional services. These services may be performed by one of our qualified subcontractors. Our subcontractors are supervised to ensure quality and services are done to our and our customer’s satisfaction.
