SUMNER WASHINGTON

• MECHANIC

  • Repairs and maintains light to medium duty trucks, machinery and equipment, and fabricates metal parts and tools. Performs electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of trucks, machinery and equipment. Diagnoses malfunctions. Installs ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries and replaces transmissions and other parts. Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and makes adjustments. Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks and equipment to verify conformance to specifications. Performs general tune-ups, servicing and oil changes. Ability to work effectively in a team and lift a minimum of 100 pounds. Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school, or two years related experience. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A. Day shift and swing shift. 

• LABORER

  • Performs general laborer duties on asphalt and concrete patching crew. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down jobsite signs, cones, etc. Dumps, shovels, levels, rakes, sweeps, rolls and inspects asphalt, and seals patches. Operates jackhammer, roller and backhoe. Ability to work effectively in a team and lift up to 150 pounds. Previous asphalt and/or concrete experience preferred. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record. 

• DRIVER

  • Drives dump trucks and other vehicles and performs general labor duties on asphalt and concrete patching crew. Practices safe driving skills and follows all vehicular safety regulations in all operating conditions. Spreads gravel efficiently, places asphalt as directed and makes sure loads are secured. Loads and unloads equipment. Reads a map book to get to jobsites and material sources. Performs non-driving, general labor work (shovels, rakes, rolls) and operates equipment on a regular basis. Ability to work effectively in a team and lift a minimum of 100 pounds. Previous asphalt and/or concrete experience preferred. Must have a CDL Class A with a good driving record and experience driving at the CDL Class A level.
    
    Relief Driver: Performs Driver and/or Laborer duties. Potential to move to full-time driving when there is the opportunity.

• MECHANIC HELPER
  • Assists mechanics in the shop. Washes and steam cleans trucks and equipment. Obtains hand tools and parts from stock. Cleans, sweeps, picks up work area, loads and unloads trucks, and moves parts and equipment. Ability to work effectively in a team and lift a minimum of 100 pounds. Typically a part-time position in the afternoon, evenings and Saturdays. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is preferred.

• LABORER
